National Survey of Badgers

A national survey of badgers in England and Wales has begun.  This is a follow-up to the last national badger survey of Great Britain, which was completed in 1997.  FERA (The Food and Environment Research Agency) has been commissioned by Defra to carry out the badger sett survey.  The survey will enable them to estimate the current size and distribution of the badger population, but also investigate any changes that have occured.
